dotQuant is a trading platform with agentic behaviours: live market data and watchlists, AI analysts scoring the fundamentals, trading strategies written in plain English and backtested honestly, long-term portfolios, and pass-through order execution on your own broker account. Everything you can do here, an AI agent can do too.
What it does
- Live market data Charts, news and watchlists for any symbol across global exchanges. No account needed.
- AI analysts A panel of analyst agents scores the fundamentals behind every symbol you follow, next to an objective Key Metrics table.
- Strategies in plain English Describe a trading idea; dotQuant compiles it into a precise spec, backtests it with honest fills and costs, and can run it live on closing bars.
- Long-term portfolios Target weights and a monthly amount become reviewed contribution proposals. You approve every order batch.
- Trading on Interactive Brokers Orders pass through to your own IBKR account via the dotQuant Desktop App. Credentials stay on your machine.
- Agents are first-class users Every capability is exposed through BEST, the Behavioral State protocol, over REST and MCP, so Claude, Cursor or any agent can operate your account the way the UI does.
- Programmatic API Automate your account from any language with an API key.
How it started
dotQuant began as an execution bridge, built by software engineers who trade their own capital: infrastructure that carried trading signals from charting tools to Interactive Brokers, reliably and securely. Building it taught us that execution is table stakes. The real gap is upstream, in understanding what you own and turning an idea into something you can actually test.
So we rebuilt the platform around that gap: the market data, the analysts, the strategies and the portfolios all live in one place, and the execution engineering now carries your orders straight from the chart. When the agent era arrived, the same commands and queries the UI uses became the interface your AI assistant uses.
Principles
- Your broker is the book of record dotQuant never holds your funds. Orders pass through untouched and no order is placed without your explicit approval.
- Nothing is a black box Every analyst shows its reasoning, every strategy compiles to a spec you can read, and every backtest charges costs and fills at the next open.
- Encrypted credentials, hosted in the UK and EU Broker credentials are encrypted at rest and only decrypted for the moment an order is sent. All infrastructure runs in the UK and Europe.
Learn
- Stock research guides A ten-part series on market context, charts, valuation, profitability, financial health, investing styles and testable strategies.
- Stock valuation ratios explained: P/E, P/S, P/FCF, EV/EBITDA, PEG and DCF What each valuation multiple compares, how it is calculated, and why a low or high number is a question about expectations rather than an answer.
- Deep value and quality compounders: two ways to judge the same stock Why a durable business can still look expensive: comparing a deep value framework with a quality compounder framework on the same company.
- From trading idea to testable rules: strategy specs and honest backtesting How written rules make a strategy inspectable, what separates a hypothesis from a tested result, and what to check before trusting any backtest.
For agents
- Agent guide How an assistant onboards the person it works for without a browser, and how BEST works.
